TARABEDDAS – Mediterranean music

The musical group Tarabeddas is born (from Tarab, Arabic term, plus Beddas, Sardinian), with Filiò Sotiraki (voice and kanun), Maurizio Puxeddu (flutes, launeddas, guitar, baritone guitar), Cinzia Merletti (ethnic percussion).

Here is a first promotional video of TARABEDDAS in which we propose the recording, in a moment of rehearsal, of a wonderful lullaby, sung in Greek by Filiò SOTIRAKI, accompanied by Cinzia MERLETTI on percussion (ocean drum) and the Sardinian flute in reed (su pipiolu) played by Maurizio PUXEDDU.

A dip in Mediterranean traditions in all possible declinations; a profound and spontaneous encounter between different cultures and traditions but communicating with each other, in a sort of bridge always open to the passage of anyone who wishes to undertake the path from one side to the other of a great imaginary river that contains everything and carries everything in its current. TARABEDDAS foresees the collaboration of talented artists as special guests.

I have the pleasure of being part of TARABEDDAS, a musical formation that will base its repertoire on the musical traditions of the Mediterranean, with fantastic pieces, instrumental and vocal, arranged and revisited for our staff: kanun and voice, percussion, winds and strings.

I will also have the opportunity to present in this context some of my original pieces, of pan-Mediterranean inspiration, and to use a series of classical musical instruments that I have studied over time (transverse flute, guitars) and traditional instruments from Sardinia and the Mediterranean (launeddas, sulittu, ney, bena and many others).
